Star Picks

   EnvironmentalChemistry.com

EnvironmentalChemistry.com
(http://EnvironmentalChemistry.com/)

This site seems to be something of a family affair with lead names on the site Kenneth Barbalace, Roberta Barbalace, and Julia Darochkina Barbalace. It provides chemistry, environmental and hazardous materials educational resources including a detailed periodic table of the elements; chemistry articles, a geological timeline and more. The site has been on the web since October 1995, which makes it something of an old hand in the web world.

Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database

Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database
(http://umbbd.ahc.umn.edu/)

This site maintained by the University of Minnesota provides a database carrying information on microbial biocatalytic reactions and biodegradation pathways for primarily xenobiotic chemical compounds from Kyoto and Cambridge via UMN. The goal of the UM-BBD is to provide information on microbial enzyme-catalyzed reactions that are important for biotechnology. Lots of information on many compounds and lots of reasons to find out about each.

   Linus Pauling Virtual Exhibit
Linus Pauling Virtual Exhibit
(http://pauling.library.orst.edu/exhibit/index.htm)

Check out the Linus Pauling Virtual Exhibit at http://pauling.library.orst.edu/exhibit/index.htm. It provides a nice tribute to the man himself and a virtual reminder of an exhibition that took place in 2001. This exhibit was prepared by the staff of Special Collections and University Archives units of the Oregon State University Libraries. Materials are from the Ava Helen and Linus Pauling Papers held by Special Collections and various photographic collections in the University Archives.
