Distilled Web Sites
This is a quirky little site for those after a bit of chemical history. There are images that put a face to plenty of famous names: from Melvin Calvin and Frederick Gardner Cottrell to Jons Jacob Berzelius and Amadeo Avogadro. We cannot vouch for the copyright position on these images, however, but there's nothing to stop you just looking.
With chemistry so often at the forefront of the environmental debate this site provides a means to bring scientists, economists, educators, and other experts together to help improve awareness and understanding of environmental issues. The site covers the major areas of interest: air, water, forests, climate, food, biodiversity, energy, population, waste, economics and risk.
One to keep an eye on if you are a secondary educator. Plenty of chemical resources and a good strong springboard to bounce off to other sites. Various areas link to specific subjects - "Laboratory" links to safety information while Periodic Tables... obviously links to...periodic tables.
