The Web is great for finding research institutions, museums, universities, and any other place you might wish to look for a scientist. The World of Learning provided in book form a great tome that could pinpoint almost every center's address with a few thumb flicks. Now, the updated "webified" version relies on mouse clicks instead to help you track down the place you are looking for. While a conventional search engine would spew up a thousand unrelated hits, the WoL targets places and people.

Seeing as we're fast approaching the fiftieth anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA, this beginner-intermediate-advanced user genome site offers a timely chance to learn about the human genome. Beginners find amazing facts about the body, while intermediates get a discussion that assumes an understanding of amino acids, proteins, and DNA. Hopefully, the advanced level, which is still in production, will offer information at the undergraduate level in time for that anniversary.

If you're planning on studying chemistry at University, then this helpful little site will either serve as a nice appetizer or put you off. Hopefully, the former! It's packed with information from a foundations in chemistry textbook by Richard E. Dickerson and Irving Geis, is Flash enabled, and covers everything from elemental discoveries to spectral lines by way of reactive reports.
