   Dihydrogen Monoxide

Dihydrogen Monoxide
(http://www.dhmo.org/)

If you are increasingly worried about chemicals in the environment, then you ought to take a look at this important site on the compound DHMO. You can learn about the cancer risk associated with DHMO, its environmental impact, and the DHMO conspiracy. One of the more worrying aspects of this chemical is that it was used by the Serbian military, as authorized by Slobodan Milosevic, in their alleged ethnic "cleansing" campaign. The site's authors might be advised to issue a warning that keeping the fleshy movable process found in the mouth placed firmly behind the masseter will prevent most of the hazardous effects described.

Chemical jigsaw puzzles are an interesting way to help students come to grips with valency, bonding, and balancing equations. There's nothing flashy here, just several samples to give educators a flavor of how the concept works and a bit of fun for students under pressure to understand!

The Chemical Heritage Foundation exists to conserve the history of chemistry and the molecular sciences. Its associated website exists as a springboard to the many resources such as museum exhibitions, oral history abstracts, and much more. An events calendar provides the ultimate opportunity for interactivity with our chemical past.
